This past Tuesday morning, as I was getting ready to leave home for my Dad's burial service, I check my e-mail and find that PayPal has made a payment from MY account to a thief. Not a small payment -- nearly $1,000. Not to mention that I didn't even have a fraction of that amount in the bank account from which they said they made payment. |

PayPal is what can best be described as a bank account on the internet. You can have money put in there, you can withdraw money, and you can have all sorts of monetary transactions completed by using the main PayPal site. In my case, I have used it for many different reasons, and not only because I chose to at times, but because there are some businesses (and people) that will only deal with money through PayPal, and nothing else. That makes it a necessary evil for someone like myself, who is always online, and is always using sites that will only conduct actions through PayPal. |

For the past two years, I've been participating in online auctions such as eBay, Onsale, and Amazon. With each winning bid, I would write out a check, write a letter, and mail it off to the seller. Then, I had to wait 3-5 days for my letter to arrive at its destination, wait for the check to clear (approximately seven more days), then wait some more for the seller to ship the item(s) to me. It was like the saying "Hurry up and wait"; I hurried in sending my payments, but the rest of the process had taken several days to complete. Thanks to a service called PayPal, my auction transactions usually get completed within a week instead of 2-3 weeks using the snail mail method. Just the fact that my transactions were completed in a faster manner has made me a happy PayPal customer. Be careful, however, these past few months have been very profitable for scammers. Yes, if you are careless, they can take advantage and bite you hard. |

I have read sooooo many reviewers talking about how wonderful PayPal. Let me tell you it isn't all it's cracked up to be. My experience with PayPal has been nothing but problems.... I originally opened the account awhile ago and used it primarily for getting paid from paid to read programs etc. It truly is very convenient and is used heavily on auction sites as well as other shopping areas as it's pretty simple to open an account..... However, how much is convenience really worth? |
